It’s important to note that Medicare will always notify you of any changes that will be made to your plan. These notices will typically come to you in the mail as an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) or Evidence of Coverage (EOC).

If you do not receive these documents, you will need to contact your plan.

What is the Annual Notice of Change?

The Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) will be sent to you in September of each year by your plan detailing any changes in costs, coverage, or service areas that will take effect in January of the upcoming year.

When you get this notice, it is important that you review it carefully and understand the types of changes that will be made to your plan. After you have reviewed the changes, you can determine if you will be satisfied with the changes that will be made. If you are, you can go ahead and keep your current plan. If not, you can use the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, which is from October 15 to December 7, to make changes to your coverage and switch to a different plan if you feel it is necessary to get the coverage you need.

What is the Evidence of Coverage?

The Evidence of Coverage (EOC) is similar to the ANOC. This notice will also be sent to you in September by your plan detailing what your plan covers, what you will pay, and other information.

You will want to review this document as well to see what changes will be made for the upcoming year and if you will be satisfied with the changes made. If not, you can always take advantage of the Annual Enrollment Period to see what other Medicare plan options are available to you and make the switch.

If you are fine with what changes will be made, you also have the option of keeping your plan.
